2012 Training - First Post

So, I've decided to use this long vacant blogspot to write about my training this summer culminating, hopefully, with successful completion of the Sioux Falls Half Marathon in early September.  A quick recap of the "Event Season" thus far.  Completed the St Patty's Day "Irishman", which consists of a 5 Mile run, a 5K and a 1 mile run, in that order separated by about an hour or so each. I did ok.  I hit 3 of my 4 goals when I started out, missing a sub :33 5K by close to a minute. here are the results

Feeling like Superman for what I thought at the time was a 9:30 Mile

5 Mile - 53:30
5K - 33:43
1 Mile - 9:36
Total - 1:36:49
Division Place: 96 out of 99
Gender Place: 96 out of 99
Overall Place: 183 out of 207
------------------------------

Then I got a wild hair and decided to sign up for the Madison Community Center Triathlon this past weekend.  I had one goal finish not last.  Well, that's exactly what happened.. not last ;-)

Headed to T1

Swim - 8:24/74
T1 - 2:38/67
Bike - 43:28/76
T2 - 2:47/78
Run - 24:45/80
Total - 1:22:00
Division Place: 18 out of 18
Gender Place: 57 out of 58
Overall Place: 91 out of 94

So, up next I've got the Avera Breast Cancer 10K on May12th, and a 5K in Green Bay, WI the following week.  Another potential Triathlon in Balaton, MN on July 7th, and the Half Marathon in September.

Today's run was 2.6 miles in 30 minutes.  Not as far as I wanted, but was running more based on time than distance.  The diet has been nothing short of horrendous lately, and I'll need to be somewhere under 250 (240 ideally) so 13.1 miles don't kill me.  A nagging lower back issue is starting to come around thanks to the wonderful tutelage of Dr Wayne Huber at Active Spine and Rehabilitation, and Cassie at Massage Envy (or more correctly, her elbows)
